Case Converter
Switch text between UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case.
How to use the Case Converter
- Type or paste your text into the input box.
- Pick one of the eight cases. The converted text appears immediately in the result box.
- Switch cases as often as you like; your original text is never changed.
- Copy the result, or clear everything to start again.
Good to know
- UPPERCASE and lowercase change letters only; spacing, punctuation and line breaks are kept exactly.
- Title Case capitalises each word and lowercases the rest. These small words stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word: a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, in, nor, of, on, or, the, to, up, via, vs. This is a simple common rule, not a specific style guide (AP, Chicago, APA).
- Title Case and Sentence case lowercase everything first, so names, acronyms and brand spellings (McDonald, NASA, iPhone) are not preserved. Fix those by hand afterwards.
- Sentence case capitalises the first letter of the text, after . ! ? … followed by a space, and at the start of each new line. It does not detect proper nouns or the pronoun “I”.
- camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case are identifier styles. They split the text at spaces, punctuation, underscores, hyphens and lower-to-upper letter changes, then join the words, so punctuation, line breaks and apostrophes (don’t → dont) are removed. They cannot be reversed exactly.
- Letters from other scripts are handled with Unicode rules (é → É). A few characters change length: ß becomes SS in uppercase.
- Text beyond 2,000,000 characters is refused with a message.
Examples
- Headline to Title Case
- “the lord of the rings guide to the film” → “The Lord of the Rings Guide to the Film” (small words like of, the and to stay lowercase except at the start and end).
- Phrase to code identifiers
- “user profile image URL” → camelCase userProfileImageUrl · PascalCase UserProfileImageUrl · snake_case user_profile_image_url · kebab-case user-profile-image-url.
- Splitting existing code names
- “XMLHttpRequest” and “parseHTMLString” are split at their capital-letter boundaries, so snake_case gives xml_http_request and parse_html_string.
Frequently asked questions
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The conversion happens in your browser as you click. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
Why did my acronym turn into lowercase letters?
Title Case and Sentence case treat all text as ordinary words. Use UPPERCASE for the whole text or correct acronyms manually after converting.
Which case should I use for variable names?
It depends on the language and style guide. JavaScript variables are usually camelCase, classes PascalCase, Python variables snake_case, and CSS classes and URL slugs kebab-case.
